Mala On Tour

one small step for mankind, one big step for mala

Plain sailing

It seems like I haven’t written a new post for a while, so I thought I better had.  I am currently half way through my first tour as group leader.  As expected, I am just having an amazing time.  The small group with me is fun and friendly, and it feels like I am on holiday the whole time rather than actually being paid and working.

Touch wood, there have been no really difficult moments on this trip.  This morning was a little annoying as the trains to the Cinque Terre were not running to schedule and because it was a public holiday weekend, the platform was so full of people that there was no way onto it.  So I had to arrange for a taxi to take the passengers instead, at their own expense, but I got a good deal and they did not seem to mind.  This left me with a day to myself in the sun at the beach resort town of Levanto, home to a gelateria that sells very yummy cinnamon flavoured ice cream.

I feel like I have nothing interesting to say (unusual for me I know) as everything is going well, all the places we stay are lovely, the activities we do are fun and entertaining even a second time round, and I am perfectly content.  I am also far too busy enjoying myself to form any ponderous views on Italy or Italians, and come up with anything different apart from liking it and them all.

Sounds like lots of fun. Certainly more interesting than my job at the moment! Although, can you call what you’re doing “work” when you get to spend all day at the beach eating ice cream?

I don’t like cinnamon flavoured stuff.
